About The Church

History of the Church

For some years, All Saints’ Cathedral had done outreach work in the housing estates of Luyang and Penampang. It was only logical that this work led to the planting new church. A piece of land was purchased in the midst of a new housing area. Before the Rectory was built in early 1983, Bible Study groups and a Sunday school was started. By the end of 1985, the church building was completed.

A combined English/Chinese worship service was started in the new church building on 13th April 1986. On the 1st of June, 1986, the church was consecrated under the name The Church of the Good Samaritan by the Rt Revd Luke Chhoa. After consecration of the Church, the worship service separated into English and Chinese languages. This catered for the needs of the people more effectively. The Church has slowly been experiencing growth.
